The Tramway Map of Melbourne and Suburbs 1930s

from A$100.00

Step back in time and navigate the streets of vintage Melbourne with this wonderful restoration of a classic 1930s Tramway Map. Equal parts historical document and beautiful wall art, this pictorial map originally served as a guide for locals and visitors alike, showing precisely how to catch the right tram to Melbourne’s premier tourist destinations. It captures a charming, antique toy-like aesthetic, highlighted by a brilliant pop of bright yellow in the named shield at the bottom and a classic old-school tram nestled in the circular emblem at the top.

The original source map for this print was in quite bad shape, and we have done our best to carefully repair and rebuild a missing lower-left corner to bring the artwork back to a beautiful, display-ready standard. Please note that due to the extent of the historical damage, no records survive of the first half of the map's original legend information. Rather than guessing or inventing details that were not there, we have preserved the map as honestly as possible, retaining its authentic vintage character while ensuring it looks magnificent on your wall.
